The Service ODPS Online Backup provides Remote Data Protection and Storage for all consumers, whether small or medium businesses to professionals who work from home and students. Anyone who has electronic files that they feel require protection can benefit from this secure service.
ODPS Online Backup is delivered through a software program (the ODPS Windows Client) installed on the end-users computer. The user then tells the program what files to protect, and each night, at a configured time, (or instantaneously at the option of the user) ODPS Online Backup backs up any files that have changed since the previous backup.
ODPS Online Backup presents a powerful wizard that allows users to specify the data to protect. Users can tell ODPS Online Backup to search for common file types (like Outlook PSTs which few users know how to locate). Alternatively users can tell ODPS Online Backup to protect various common folders like the Desktop, or the Favorites folder, or the My Documents folder.
If a user wants a more hands-on approach they can drag and drop the folders/files they want to protect right onto ODPS Online Backup or just simply right click them in the operating system and select a new option of Protect with ODPS Online Backup. ODPS Online Backup can also be set up to intelligently watch particular folders and to either backup all the files in that folder or just a subset of them. For example you can easily define a filter that says only backup the word documents in the My Documents folder. Simple but powerful.
Recovery
If the need ever arises, and lets hope it doesn't, be it from hardware failure, a virus or stolen PC, then ODPS Online Backup earns its keep. The end-user simply clicks the Recover console within the ODPS Online Backup program, enters the username and password, selects the file(s) to recover, and clicks restore file(s). ODPS Online Backup also keeps an archive of every daily version of the file, so if you want to get a previous version of a document, say as it was last Tuesday, ODPS Online Backup can do that too.
ODPS Online
Backup ensures complete privacy protection. We use a three-tiered encryption system which encrypts
data on the users computer, again in transit, and finally when at rest in
storage. The end-users decryption password is not stored in our systems so that not even the ODPS
staff can view the data stored on storage servers. Only the user who put it there can ever
access the data.
